7 Great Fitness Studios In Suburban Chicago
The Chicago fitness scene is my favorite. From the city to the suburbs there is what seems to be a never ending community of fitness instructors and enthusiasts. The past year I have ventured to new places within the Chicagoland area. These are my 7 favorite fitness studios in the Chicago suburbs.
Midwest Strength + Performance | West Chicago, IL.
Midwest Strength + Performance is an unconventional gym focusing on strength and conditioning. This gym is geared towards both athletes and the “everyday individual seeking results through traditional and unconventional methods”. MSP offers classes in boxing fitness (think more cardio- boxing which is non-contact), durability training, steel mace training, and powerlifting. You can expect nothing less than upbeat fun classes and a drastic improvement with your muscle definition, fat loss and pain reduction within all major joints. This gym has something for everyone!
Essencia Yoga | wheaton, IL.
Essencia is a studio priding themselves on offering “a space for healing and wholeness through the practice of yoga [by] creating a time and place of intention, where individuals are invited to deeply connect to their essence; mind, body and soul. The goal is to offer this as a daily, weekly, monthly practice that creates expansive potential and is accessible to all”. This studio has an incredibly story and place within the community. Yoga By Degrees | Elmhurst, IL. (Also multiple locations)
For those looking for more of a “corporate yoga” style, yoga by degrees in Elmhurst is for you. Yoga by Degrees strives “to create a space that provides modern comfort for an ancient practice. As both a yoga studio and a community, [they] honor the tradition of the practice while respecting the diversity and individual beliefs of [the] students”. Yoga By Degrees has both non-heated and heated classes ranging in temperature, dependent on what the individual is looking for.
Hot Yoga Naperville | Naperville, il.
By far my favorite hot yoga studio. Hot Yoga Naperville is the original Bikram yoga studio in Naperville and has been a staple in the community for over 15 years! They are “dedicated to providing the best hot yoga experience for you”. I guarantee there will be a class for you- they range from bootcamps, yin yoga, hot yoga, pilates + more!
Shyft | Naperville, IL.
This studio is “balancing between stretch, strength, energetic release and calm”. Located in the heart of Downtown Naperville, Shyft welcomes you to “lean into your strengths, unload your weaknesses and spring into promise” during a cycling, pilates or yoga class. The studio and instructors parter with the local lululemon store to offer community and charity classes regularly. Be sure to check both the Shyft and lululemon website to stay up to date on specialty classes and events!
Ahimsa yoga studios | multiple location
Ahimsa has 5 different location in the Chicago suburbs- Oak Park, Berwyn, La Grange, Elmhurst North, and Elmhurst South.Co- owners and best friends, Kelly Merydth and Masin Ouksel, welcome you into their sacred space and promise to “treat you with love, respect, and do [their] best to guide you along your yoga path”.
Yellow Aura Yoga | Geneva, IL.
Heather shares on the website how in “the midst of twists and turns of both career and life changes, [her] husband, Chris Kellogg, encouraged [her] to complete a teacher training program”. Shortly after obtaining her certification she resigned from her corporate marketing position and opened Yellow Aura Yoga. Heather and Chris “opened Yellow Aura Yoga to facilitate self-care in the community – starting with a consistent yoga practice”. They “have placed all of [their] energy into making [the] studio a safe and welcoming retreat from the daily stressors of life.” Click here to read the full story!
